Asghar Farhadis Cannes award-winner drama The Salesman has been chosen to represent Iran at the 2017 Academy Awards, and was named by the US National Board of Review as the best foreign language film of the year.
The Iranian drama tells the story of Emad (Shahab Hosseini) and Rana (Taraneh Alidoosti), a couple who are part-time actors playing Willy and Linda Loman in a Tehran production of Arthur Millers Death of a Salesman, when an intruder in their new home shakes this marriage to its core.
Exit directed by Babak Habibifar will be screened in the short narrative section of the festival.
Fish and I, another film by Habibifar recently received a new award, best short film under 8 minutes, at Divi per un corto festival in Italy, which addresses issues related to disability.
This is the 53rd international award Fish and I had received so far.
Offering more than simply a film competition, IIFF is a thrilling place to swap perspectives, merge ideas, engage in eye-opening debates, forge new friendships, and uncover unknown talents. It will be held in the American city of Irvene on January 21 and 22.
