War game in Southeast Iran produced good results: Commander

Tasnim Commander of Iran's Army Ground Force Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari hailed the good results of a large-scale military exercise in southeastern parts of the country that ended on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters at the conclusion of the massive drill, the top general said the military delegations and referees monitoring the war game have confirmed that it has achieved good results.

The drill, codenamed Muhammad Rasulullah-4 (Muhammad, the Messenger of God), began on Sunday in an area of more than 220,000 square kilometers southeast of Iran, stretching from the Sea of Oman coasts to inland deserts.

According to the commander, one of the main features of the war game, which is constantly emphasized by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, was employment of local weapons and tactics.

Heidari also noted that the drill had messages for both friends and foes, stressing that Irans military capabilities, which strengthen the might of Islam, could smash the enemies and counter the threats decisively.

Highlights of the war game included heliborne operation to deploy commandos, drone flights for reconnaissance, combat and assault operation, counterterrorism tactics, intense ground battle operations, and electronic warfare.

The Iranian armed forces hold routine military drills throughout the year.

In September, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said there will be no delay or slowdown in the countrys military tests and war games, adding that Iran has devised comprehensive defensive strategies to counter all threats.
