Financial Tribune- Mehrabad International Airport in western Tehran handles 400 flights every day, the head of Mehrabad airport said.
Ali Rostami added that the airport is operating at full capacity, IRNA reported. According to Rostami, Mehrabad is planning to increase its capacity by building a new runway. He said the runway will come on stream by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2017). Negotiations are underway with Italian companies to finalize contracts for the development of the airport. The terminal will increase the airports capacity considerably.
The plan, which is estimated to require 250 million in investment, also includes landscaping and construction of parking space for 6,000 vehicles alongside the passenger terminal.
