Iran joins world energy charter
 

SHANA- Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian on Friday signed the document to join the World Energy Charter.

Chitchian signed the document in a ceremony held on the sidelines of the 27th Meeting of the Energy Charter Conference with the presence of Secretary General of Energy Charter Secretariat Urban Rusnak and Japan Minister for Foreign Affairs Fumio Kishida as well as members states representatives.

Chitchian left Tehran for Tokyo Thursday morning to attend the 27th Meeting of the Energy Charter Conference.

This event brought together non-observer countries and other international organizations and discussed the issues of strengthening energy security by better mobilization of global energy architecture, addressing climate change and its implications in Asia as well as challenges and opportunities for better global energy future.

The main objective of this event was to create a forum for interested countries to discuss the potential and benefits of a multilateral global energy architecture.

The 27th Meeting of the Energy Charter Conference continues with the third, Ministerial Session on Saturday 26 November 2016.

The Energy Charter Conference's main objective is better reflection of new realities in the energy sector, especially energy growth in developing countries and cooperation of the participating countries in line with development and countering common challenges in the energy sector.
