Sputnik- Iranian students successfully designed and constructed a robot for working underwater.
Students fromSharif University ofTechnology inTeheran won first prize ata recent scientific festival Sea The Strategy ofDevelopment inthe remote controlled underwater vehicle category fortheir development, Iranian news agency ISNA reported.
According tothe report, the new vehicle is a transport unmanned robot controlled remotely byan operator.
The robot can be used forunderwater exploration and submarine inspection. It can reduce the risk ofoccupational injuries byreplacing human divers atdeep-water works and other operations. The robot weighs only 3 kg and can be easily transported. Its integrated camera is designed forunderwater video shooting. Moreover, numerous sensors can be installed inthe vehicle.
