IRNA Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi said that Chabahar Accord is not in context of hydro-politics and that Indian government aims to develop Chabahar Port to set up railways from Chabahar to Central Asia.
He made the remarks in his statement to Conference on Challenges for Iran's Hydro-Politics held in the Presidential Center for Strategic Studies.
Araqchi said that Chabahar Accord with India and Afghanistan has nothing to do with Hirmand River, and it focused on investment to turn the port to an active one, which has advantages for all three countries.
Access to free water for Afghanistan and access of India for Central Asia are among advantages for the two countries.
Concerning 1975 Treaty between Iran and Iraq, Araqchi said that every decision concerning Arvand River depends on decision of Joint Technical Committee.
Araqchi said that the committee has not been formed yet and we invited the Iraqi side to come to form the committee.
