Iranian Kamanche virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor along with several Indian musicians has held a fundraising concert in San Diego, the United States.
The team performed the charity program to raise funds for Stay in School, a child education campaign for girls.
The sitar maestro Kartik Seshadri and tabla virtuoso Arup Chattopadhyay were Indian artists that accompanied Kalhor in the concert titled Rista.
Kalhor is known for his brilliant performances on the traditional instrument of Kamancheh and creating a unique mixture of classical Persian music with folk tunes of the Kurdistan region.
He has toured internationally and performed in several countries on numerous occasions. Two of his works were nominated for Grammy Awards in 2004.
Iranian Kamanche maestro has also held many concerts along with the world-renowned musicians and ensembles such as the string quartet, Brooklyn Rider ensemble, in the US city of Minneapolis in 2012.
Organized by RAGA: RASA organization, the benefit concert took place at the Irwin Jacobs Qualcomm Auditorium in San Diego on April 5, 2013.
