MNA� Syrian Deputy FM Faisal Mekdad who arrived in Tehran Sun. night heading a political delegation, is scheduled to hold talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif today.


The visit of the Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister, Faisal Mekdad, comes at the invitation of Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, and aims at holding Tehran-Damascus joint political committee�s meeting in Tehran.

The formation of the committee to coordinate joint activities was agreed upon during the latest visit of Jaberi Ansari to Damascus in September. During the meeting with Mekdad, Jaberi Ansari stressed continuous consultation and coordination between the two countries considering the critical circumstances in Syria and the region.
