Oman plans to build a port in Iran's Chabahar

October 31, The Iran Project - Secretary General of Iran-Oman Chamber of Commerce has announced that the two countries are negotiating over the implementation of a joint project for building a port worth $ 250 million in Iran's Chabahar.

Speaking to a reporter on Monday, Ahmad Shirzadian said in the joint Iran-Oman project, an Omani company is going to construct port and port facilities on a land area of one million square meters in the Iranian port of Chabahar.

Last year more than 10 Iranian and Omani trade delegations negotiated on different fields and achieved positive results, including launching a direct shipping line between the ports of Sohar and Bandar Abbas, Shirzadian stated.

The Iranian official added that direct shipping lines are also going to be launched between the ports of Muscat and Chabahar and the ports of Bandar Abbas and Muscat.

He went on to say that Iran and Oman private sectors also singed some MoUs in mining and tourism sectors, stressing that the two countries' relation and cooperation are in progress in post-sanctions era.

Speaking about the Iran-Oman gas pipeline project, he said the project is in final stages according to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Mines.

Iran and Oman have signed basic agreements based on which Iran will export a daily amount of 28 million cubic meters (mcm) of gas to Oman.
