Saudi strikes on Yemen ‘unavailing’ for kingdom

TEHRAN, Oct. 29 (MNA) – Deputy-FM for Arab and African affairs has discussed developments in the region with Swiss official.

Hossein Jaberi Ansari and Swiss State Secretary of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) Yves Rossier sat in a meeting on Saturday to address terrorism in the region and Yemeni situation. Mr. Rossier’s Iran visit is part of his regional tour of the Middle East which also includes Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Jaberi Ansari provided a report of the latest situation on the ground in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen to Swiss official. Both sides emphasized that in Yemen political solution should settle the conflict where so far, thousands of civilian Yemenis had been killed by Saudi air strikes which would not serve realization of Saudi objectives in its southern borders.

Mr. Rossier also believed that in Iraq and Syria, Iran had played a great role and succeeded in defeat of the terrorism.

Jaberi Ansari told the meeting that attacks against civilians and infrastructure of Yemen were misguided and deliberate, an act seeking to break the public resistance against Saudis’ plans in the country; on shelling of a US warship in the Bab el-Mandab, where the Houthis were implicated, Jaberi Ansari believed the episode was suspicious and would be orchestrated by the Saudi-affiliated opposition groups to engage the US in the crisis. “The international Bab el-Mandab should be respected by all sides.”
