Tehran, Oct 8, IRNA -- Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia on Saturday urged Western governments to remain committed to their pledges on banking cooperation with Iran.
Tayyebnia made the remarks during a meeting in Washington with his Italian counterpart Pier Carlo Padoan on the sidelines of an IMF annual meeting.
Boosting security and stability in the much destabilized Middle East region is not possible without Iran's active partnership, Tayyebnia said.
Iran knows what a responsibility it bears and also knows that the West is well aware of this fact, he added.
Underlining the need for a collective resolution to implement the agreements reached after a nuclear deal between Iran and the six world powers last year, he said that Iran is committed to its pledges but the other side lacks enough pace to honor its commitments.
The minister said that Tehran expects Italy to do its best to help remove obstacles on cooperation with Iran.
The Italian minister, for his part, underlined the necessity of remaining committed to the agreements reached between the two countries.
Italy has made every effort to pave the way for removing obstacles on the way of doing business with Iran, Padoan said.
He said that the Italian banks and companies are determined to broaden bilateral cooperation with Iran and the country's SACE Group and Eximbank are awaiting for Iran's response about their cooperation proposals.
