S. Korea to invest on solar power project in Iran

Shiraz, Fars prov., Oct 8, IRNA Chancellor of Fars Azad University said that a South Korean company named KCT is to invest $600m in building a solar power plant in Fasa, Fars province.


Hamzeh Sarouie told IRNA on Saturday that according to the contract, the Korean company is to construct a 200-mw solar power plant in partnership with Azad University of Fars.

He reiterated that the Korean company has been committed to transfer the technology of building the plant to Iran as well.

He added that construction of the plant is to start in the current Iranian calendar year (ending on March 20, 2017) and it will be finished in 15 months.

He noted that the contract is a buildoperatetransfer (BOT) type.

Sarouie emphasized that Iran's Economic and Investment Development Headquarter is to supervise the project, saying that domestic contractors will participate in the project and domestic equipment is to be used.
