The agreements were signed on the sidelines of an aquaculture exhibition, attended by Iranian Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati and Norways Minister of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs Per Sandberg.
Based on the agreements, the Norwegian companies will supply Iran with modern aquafarming equipment and fish breeding cages with a production capacity of 20,000 tons.
According to Hojjati, cooperation with Norway in cage fish farming will have a profound impact on the life and economy of locals living in the countrys southern and northern coastal regions.
On September 27, Head of Irans Fisheries Organization Hassan Salehi said Iran has begun cooperation with Norway, France and China in the fishery industry after coming into force of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear agreement between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).
Apart from those three countries, which have started investment in Iran, there have been business talks with the US, Canada, Britain and Thailand, Salehi announced.
Contracts with the foreign countries entail the transfer of modern technologies to Iran, while cooperation with the US and Britain will focus on aquaculture, he added.
