TEHRAN (FNA)- Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani expressed regret that the US and the Israeli regime are victimizing their own security through their non-stop hostile actions against the resistance front led by Iran.

"The US and the Zionist regime's enmity towards the resistance front is so vigorous that they even ignore own national and international security and unfortunately, we see that after repeated terrorist attacks against Europe, these governments have done no review and (shown no) serious determination in their method of war against terrorism," Shamkhani said in a meeting with Syrian Parliament Speaker Hadiya Khalaf Abbas in Tehran on Tuesday.

He also blasted the US clear political and military support for different terrorist groups, and said the most important reason for the failure of political plans and even ceasefire occasions (in Syria) is the West and its allies' refusal to accept the terrorist nature of many armed and extremist groups in the region and their stubborn assistance to such groups.

Shamkhani said that the only path to end the current crisis in Syria is continued national talks to work out political solutions agreed by all the political groups in the country.

In relevant remarks in May, Iranian Supreme Leader's Top Adviser for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati vowed that Tehran and its allies will stand strong against enemies' moves against Syria.

"The ill-wishers and enemies of the Syrian nation and government want to impose on Syria the disaster they themselves created in Libya and can't control anymore, and of course, the Resistance Front will not allow their plots against Syria and the region materialize," Velayati said in a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem in Damascus.

Muallem, for his part, appreciated Iran for its support which, he said, helped Syria to resist and gain victory against the terrorists.

He described the current regional and international conditions as highly sensitive, and said that under such conditions, efforts to improve the political and economic situation in addition to advances on the military scene are highly important and the friends of Syria can play an effective role in this regard through their cooperation.
