Tehran, Sept 24, IRNA Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Saturday that military intervention and occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq by the US and Saudi aggression on Yemen led to rapid growth of terrorism and extremism in western Asia and African continent.
Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Kenyan counterpart Justin Muturi.
Iranian Majlis welcomes exchange of views and cooperation between Iran and Kenya in various fields such as fight against terrorism, Larijani said.
Wrongful act of the US and certain governments to instrumental use of terrorism has created waves of insecurity in various parts of the world and today the issue of terrorism has turned into an international dilemma, Larijani said.
Expansion of cooperation between the Iranian and Kenyan parliamentary friendship groups and formation of specialized commissions in both parliaments play significant role to develop political, economic and commercial relations, he said.
Tehran welcomes expansion of all-out relations and cooperation with Kenya, said the Iranian Majlis speaker.
In fight with terrorism, its roots should be identified, he underlined.
Nuclear deal between the Islamic Republic of Iran and G5+1 has created new opportunities for both sides to broaden and bolster cooperation, he said.
Kenyan parliament speaker, for his part said Kenyan parliament calls for expansion of political, parliamentary and commercial relations with Iran playing significant role in the region and the world.
Agreement between Iran and G5+1 has created grounds for new interaction and cooperation which should be seized, he said.
Kenya like the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that fight with terrorism through military campaign will be of no use and that terrorism should be eradicated, he said.
The two speakers called for expansion of relations and cooperation in various fields.
The Kenyan parliament speaker arrived in Tehran on September 23 upon an invitation by Larijani.
