Tehran, Sept 24, IRNA - President Hassan Rouhani on Saturday said that violence is the main problem facing the region and the entire world.

President Rouhani made the remarks in a speech given during the inaugural ceremony of the new school year in Iran.

The ceremony was held in a girls' high school in downtown Tehran where the President officially started the new school year by symbolically ringing the school's bell.

He said that the Iranian students have started the new school year 'in a safe atmosphere, while a large number of schools are destroyed in a number of other countries in the region and in the neighboring states of Iran including Iraq, Syria and Yemen; The students and their friends have slaughtered and teachers lost the opportunity for teaching.'

'Violence is not limited only to war and terror,' said the President adding, 'Lack of ethics and spirit brotherhood and sisterhood as well as disrespecting other people are other examples of violence.'

President Rouhani also urged all teachers nationwide 'to bring more hope and happiness to schools.'

Commenting on the implementation the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), President Rouhani said that the landmark nuclear deal was effective in providing necessary financial sources to government and a large part of the country's budget.

Over 1,000 educational, training and sports projects were inaugurated across the country concurrent with the inauguration of the new school year by the President Rouhani,
