TEHRAN (Tasnim) � An Iranian deputy foreign minister called for efforts to boost trade and economic interaction among members of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation by supporting the private sectors and exchanging experiences.

Iran�s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi attended the second extraordinary meeting of foreign ministers of D-8 on the sidelines of the 71st annual session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Friday.

In the meeting, chaired by Pakistan�s foreign minister, the Iranian diplomat highlighted the ample opportunities for economic cooperation among the D-8 members through stronger private sectors and the exchange of experience.

Araqchi also described the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as a proper international framework that could help the D-8 members outline their priorities and promote mutual cooperation.

The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation is an organization for the development of cooperation among the following countries: Iran, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey.

The objectives of the D-8 are to improve member states� position in the global economy, diversify and create new opportunities in trade relations, enhance participation in decision-making at international level, and improve standards of living.
