Kuala Lumpur, Sept 9, IRNA Heads of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in their final statement on Thursday evening said they are looking forward to annexation of Iran to Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).
In the final statement of the 28th and 29th summit meeting of ASEAN, annexation of Chile, Egypt and Morocco to TAC was also welcomed.
On annexation of Iran to the treaty, the heads of member states said they are looking forward to this move and called for completion of internal process of membership.
Foreign ministers of 10 member states of ASEAN in their meeting in Laos on July 24, 2016 had agreed Iran's joining the treaty, so by completion of organizational process and confirmation of heads of member states, Iran will join the treaty.
ASEAN member states include Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Brunei.
