RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 10 (MNA) � Iran�s Mojtaba Abedini defeated his Ukrainian opponent in Men�s Individual Sabre Fencing at Rio Olympics 2016, while Ali Pakdaman was eliminated from the competitions after defeat by German athlete.
The Olympics sabre�fencing games which began on Saturday were followed up on Wednesday in the individual category.
Iran�s Mojtaba Abedini, who had obtained an Olympic quota for the second time and through world ranking, competed against Ukraine�s Andriy Yahodka and managed to defeat him 15-9.
Abedini�s match against his Ukrainian opponent was held in round of 32. He will take on Gu Bon-Gil from South Korea in round of 16, to be held later this afternoon local time.
Meanwhile, another Iranian athlete Ali Pakdaman lost to his German opponent Matyas Szabo 15-11 and was eliminated from the next round of competitions.
