The suspect, named Ahmad Fadhil and known as Abu at-Tayyib, is a Syrian-born member of Al-Nusra that had a role in loading a car with explosives for the attack on Irans embassy building in Beirut back in November 2013, Al-Manar reported.
According to the Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar, Fadhil used to work at a gas station in a Syrian village before enrolling for dentistry in Al-Baath University in Homs.
After eruption of Syrias civil war in 2011, Abu at-Tayyib saw himself as a militant and joined the Farouq Brigades terrorist group.
He later joined Al-Nusra Front terrorists in the city of Yabroud and acquired expertise in making improvised explosive devices for car bomb attacks.
A number of other terrorists have been already arrested in connection with the twin explosions near the Iranian embassy building in Beirut that claimed the lives of dozens of people, including Iranian cultural attach, and injured some 150 others.
An al-Qaeda-linked group, Abdullah Azzam Brigades, claimed responsibility for the bombings.
Later, the Lebanese army arrested Majed al-Majed, the Saudi commander of Abdullah Azzam Brigades.
However, the Saudi terrorist died on January 4, 2014, after the deterioration of his health. Majed was reportedly suffering from kidney failure and required daily dialysis.
Later in March 2015, the Lebanese Internal Security Forces arrested a Syrian woman suspected of being part of the attack. Fatima al-Khalida was captured at Beiruts Rafic Hariri International Airport.
