Mass funerals held in Iran for 127 martyrs
TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranians in 23 provinces of the country on Saturday attended funeral processions for 127 martyrs whose remains have been recently unearthed some 30 years after the end of the Iraqi imposed war on Iran.

59 locations in 23 provinces across the country saw crowds of people attending the funeral of the soldiers, on the martyrdom anniversary of the sixth Shia imam, Imam Sadiq (AS).

The identity of only 28 bodies have been discovered, while the other 99 were laid to rest as unknown martyrs.

People of different social strata attended the funeral processions, signifying the Iranian peoples love for their martyrs who sacrificed their life to defend Islam and the homeland.

Iraq, under former dictator Saddam Hussein, invaded Iran on September 22, 1980, imposing a bitter eight-year war on its eastern neighbor.
