TEHRAN, Jul. 17 (MNA) Irans national mathematics team received six silver and bronze medals in the 57th round of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Hong Kong.
The Iranian team consisted of Mohammadreza Bemanian, Amin Rakhsha and Amir Mojtaba Sabour, who won a silver medal, and Farbod Ekbatani, Mahbod Majid and Alireza Hediehlou, each receiving a bronze medal in the international competitions.
The Iranian team has ranked 24th in the world, having competed with teams from 111 countries from June 6 to 16 in Hong Kong.
The US, South Korea and China claimed the first, second and third place, respectively.
The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for high school students and is held annually in a different country.
In IMO 2015 held in Thailand, Iran was ranked 7th among 137 countries by claiming 3 gold, 2 silver and one bronze medals.
