TEHRAN, Jul. 02 (MNA) Indian ambassador to Tehran visited University of Tehran and discussed ways of expanding scientific and international cooperation between the two countries.
Chancellor of the University of Tehran Mahmoud Nili Ahmadabadi, in his meeting with Saurabh Kumar on Saturday, pointed to the cultural and historical commonalities between Iran and India, saying Irans policy is to boost international cooperation and welcomes scientific ties with Indian academic centers.
University of Tehrans Vice President for International Affairs Mohammad Bagher Ghahramani also expressed Irans readiness for cooperation with India in areas including Islamic studies, Iranian studies, music, theater and linguistics.
Saurabh Kumar, for his part, said some exhibitions are going to be held in the field of education in India to where University of Tehran can contribute.
He added, we are ready to deploy a researcher and professor at University of Tehran for a specified period in the field of Indian studies, based on our past cooperation with the Faculty of Literature and Humanities and the Faculty of World Studies in Iran.
Currently, he added, about 5 to 6 thousand Iranian students are studying in India; Persian and Hindi are common in 60% of words and even the grammatical rules of the two languages are similar.
The Indian government awards scholarships to foreign students too, he noted.
