Economic agreements between Iran, Russia should be implemented 2016-2017

Irans ambassador to Russia called for speeding up cooperation between the two countries businesses

ST. PETERSBURG, June 16. /TASS/. Trading relations between Russia and Iran fall short of the current level of the political dialog and need improvement, Irans ambassador to Russia, Mehdi Sanaei, said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Our relations are developing very seriously, at a high level and in various spheres," Sanaei said. "Political dialog is in progress. The relations are strategic. But trading relations fall short of the political level. They are to be raised fundamentally."

"The process is underway. Last year created many prerequisites. Many documents have been signed," he said. Last year was very important. We do hope that 2016 and 2017 will see the implementation of these documents."

Sanaei called for speeding up cooperation between the two countries businesses.

"Our relations have a government bias. More non-governmental organizations and companies should be involved," Sanaei said. "Businesses must have a chance to participate more seriously. There are major agreements and contracts that need financial support. Prerequisites have been created and many barriers removed."
