TEHRAN (NNI): An Iranian lawmaker said that a recent report by the UN special investigator on human rights in Iran is "biased and undocumented," official IRNA news agency reported.
In the report released Thursday, Ahmed Shaheed, the UN special rapporteur on human rights situation in Iran, voiced concerns about the current human rights situation in Iran.

Ahmad Bakhshayesh, member of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran's Majlis (parliament), said that sources of Shaheed's report on Iran was counter-revolutionary elements and Iran's oppositions, based in foreign countries, as well as " terrorist" Mujahideen Khalq (MEK) members, according to IRNA.

In his reports, Shaheed has raised fabricated issues about Iran, said Bakhshayesh, adding that he has used the situation of prisoners, minorities and ethnic communities in Iran as a pretext to raise false allegations against the country.

The Islamic republic, as a "unique democratic system" in the world, is a free, safe and popular country, Bakhshayesh noted.

On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast called the report "unsubstantiated, biased and a repetition of the Western allegations against Tehran," according to Press TV.

Shaheed collated the information from anti-Iranian media outlets and terrorist groups, Mehmanparast was quoted as saying.

Saying that Shaheed's recent report lacks "legal credibility," Mehmanparast added that the Islamic republic is eternally committed to respecting human dignity and the basic rights of the people in line with its constitution and religious teachings.

Tehran will continue to abide by its international obligations despite all the anti-Iran propaganda, he went on saying.
