Iran, Portugal ready to develop trade ties

Tehran, June 6, The Iran Project - Assistant to the Portugal's deputy foreign minister announced on Monday that special conditions are created for Iran-Portugal trade cooperation.

In a joint session between Portuguese trade delegation and production managers of Alborz Province in Karaj, Henrik Riber, assistant to the Portugal's deputy foreign minister said there are special proper conditions for Iran-Portugal trade cooperation.

Riber also stated that based on the interactions of Iran-Portugal diplomats, it has been decided to establish Tehran-Lisbon direct flight to further expand business activities of the two countries.

He went on to say that Portugal companies and investors are keen to participate and invest in different fields like water and sanitation, energy, supply of tourism facilities, and especially the production of energy from waste in Alborz Province.

Referring to the Provinces significant centers of higher education and research, Head of Alborz Chamber of Commerce, Rahim Bana Molaei also stressed that we can provide Portugal with engineering services.

Bana Molaei further expressed that Payam airport, as a special economic zone, is ready to sign contracts with Portugals airline to transferring commercial goods.

Saying Alborz is the country's second largest pharmaceutical manufacturer, he added that economic actors of the province can cooperate with Portugal in the field of pharmaceutical industry.

Portugals deputy foreign minister Jorge Costa Oliveira also said earlier that Tehran and Lisbon have great capacities to further increase the volume of their trade exchanges in diverse fields.

Heading a large politico-economic delegation, the Portuguese deputy foreign minister paid a two-day visit to the Iranian capital on May 30-31.
