Riga, June 2, IRNA Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Latvian Parliament Speaker In?ra M?rniece in a meeting here on Thursday discussed bilateral ties.
During the meeting in the Latvian capital today, Zarif and M?rniece underlined the need for the deepening of bilateral relations, especially strengthening parliamentary ties.
The Iranian foreign minister pointed to the beginning of the new parliament in Iran, and expressed the hope that the countries could expand their bilateral relations through exchanges of high-ranking parliamentary delegations.
'The presence of high-ranking economic delegation shows that Iran is determined to broaden relations with Latvia in different areas,' Zarif added.
The Latvian parliament speaker said that Iran's non-recognition of Latvia's occupations will never be forgotten by the people of her country, adding, 'Meeting with you is a turning point in the history of the two countries' relations.
'I support the expansion of relations between the two countries in all areas,' she added.
