Ghaem Maghami routes Chinese GM

TEHRAN, Jun. 01 (MNA) Irans Ehsan Ghaem Maghami prevailed over the Chinese rival in round six of Asian Individual Men Chess Championship 2016 underway in Tashkent.


Iranian Grand Master (GM) Ehsan Ghaem Maghami got the better of Chinas Yi Wei in round six of the Asian tournament to remain its good position near the top place with a total of 4.5 points.

Also, Masoud Mosadeghpour and Alireza Firouzja of Iran drew against Uzbek rivals to wrap up the sixth round with a total of three points.

Meanwhile in the womens section of the continental sportive event, Sarasadat Khademalsharieh overcame Mary Ann Gomes of India to gain a total of 3.5 points.

Also, Atousa Pourkashiyan earned a draw against the Chinese chess player Qi Guo while Mitra Hejazipour conceded a defeat against Dinara Saduakassova of Kazakhstan.

Asian Individual Championship (Men and Women) 2016 kicked off on May 25 in Tashkent of Uzbekistan and will come to an end on June 05.

The tournament is held with the Swiss system and consists in two divisions, Open and Women's, the latter of which is reserved to female players.
