TEHRAN, May 28 (Shana) Iran will see production rise to 280,000 bpd from West Karoon oil fields before November 2016, a senior petroleum official said.

Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) Roknoddin Javadi said production from the fields will rise to the number in line with requirements of the Economy of Resistance.

The official also said that 5 new phases of the supergiant South Pars gas field will also come online by the end of the current Iranian calendar year to March 20 2017, being marked as another step by NIOC in materialization of the economy of resistance as instructed by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

He said NIOC has taken every measure to fulfill the policies of the economy that is hoped to save the country in hard economic times caused by oil price slump and tough economic sanctions on Iran by the West led by Washington.

Javadi said Iran's crude oil output has crossed 3.5 mbd with exports standing at over 2 mbd for the country.

He also said NIOC has launched several projects with universities and knowledge-based institutes and is seriously pursuing construction of 10 groups of key petroleum items and parts.
