Moscow: 'No Guarantees' Syria Support Group to adopt final document

The upcoming International Syria Support Group (ISSG) meeting may not result in the final document, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Monday.





MOSCOW (Sputnik) There are "no guarantees" that the upcoming International Syria Support Group (ISSG) meeting would result inadoption ofany final document despitethe fact that Moscow is working outthe ideas forsuch a paper, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Monday.
"I do not think that now, atthe stage, when the event has not even started, we can speak aboutany decision or any decisions. We are working outthe ideas forthe potential outcome document, butthere are no guarantees that such final paper will be shaped, agreed and adopted," Ryabkov told reporters.


Some specifications tothe existing agreements betweenMoscow and Washington and previous decisions ofthe ISSG could be made atthe meeting, butnot necessarily inthe form ofany document, he added.

The Austrian capital ofVienna is expected tohost the next ISSG ministerial meeting onTuesday.

The ISSG, co-chaired byMoscow and Washington, was formed inNovember 2015, shortly afterthe beginning ofthe Syria peace talks, asa panel ofcountries seeking toend bloodshed inSyria. The European Union, the Arab League, China, Iran, Turkey, and the United Nations are also members ofthe group.
