TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Saturday paid tribute to Mustafa Badreddine, senior Hezbollah commander who was martyred in Damascus on Thursday.
Leading a political and security delegation, Amir Abdollahian arrived in the Lebanese capital on Friday night to offer the Islamic Republics condolences to members of Badreddines family on his martyrdom.
On Saturday, the Iranian diplomat paid homage to the commander at his tomb in Southern Beirut.
Mustafa Badreddine was martyred in a massive explosion near Damascus International Airport on Thursday, in an attack Hezbollah later said had been carried out by Takfiri groups.
He was the commander of Hezbollahs military arm, its chief of intelligence, and adviser to the movements Secretary General Seyed Hassan Nasrallah.
Badreddine was also the cousin and brother-in-law of the top Hezbollah commander, Imad Mughniyeh, who was likewise assassinated by the Israeli regime in Damascus in 2008.
