Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) will discuss what happened with the Iranian military in Khan Tuman and the ways to return the captured Iranians, according to a source close to the SNSC.
TEHRAN (Sputnik) Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) is expected todiscuss the situation withthe country's military advisers, who have been reportedly captured byterrorists inthe northern Syrian province ofAleppo onMonday, a source close tothe SNSC told Sputnik.
On Saturday, Iranian media reported abouta number ofadvisers captured bythe terrorists fromthe al-Qaeda affiliated Nusra Front nearSyria's Khan Tuman settlement, located nearthe city ofAleppo.
"Today, the committee will discuss what happened withthe Iranian military inKhan Tuman and the ways toreturn the captured Iranians. The relevant decisions will be made," the source said.
Earlier inMay, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told Sputnik that Iran's involvement inSyria's conflict was limited tosending military advisers who consulted the Syrian army and allied militia onanti-terrorism fight.
Nusra Front, outlawed inRussia, is one ofthe extremist groups that Syria government forces loyal toSyrian President Bashar Assad have been fighting since2011, inaddition tofighting numerous opposition factions inthe country.
