Official says South Korea to make its presence in Iran different

Tehran, May 4, IRNA Deputy Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade Mansour Moazzami said the presence of the South Korean firms in Iran is now of a different kind.

Talking to IRNA on Wednesday, he said the fact that Iran has attained new capabilities in different industries had made the South Korean firms to demonstrate a different kind of presence in the Iranian market compared to previous decades.

He said the South Korean firms are certainly not able to conduct their activities in the old manner they were used to especially in oil sectors.

Noting that Iran is now self-sufficient in many sectors, he said Koreans have had a good record of activities in Iranian oil industries.

He said the performance of Korean firms in Irans downstream and upstream oil industries have been quite remarkable.

The deputy minister said Iran now was trying to open up a new chapter of cooperation with Korean companies especially in investment and marketing sectors.

Stressing that Koreans are not to consider Iran as mere destination for their products, he said regarding the remarks of the South Korean President, the country seems to be in tune with Irans new policies and is willing to act accordingly.

South Korean President Park Geun-hye heading a 236-member delegation arrived in Tehran on Sunday.

On Monday, Iranian and South Korean officials inked 19 agreements on cooperation in the presence of the two countries' presidents.
