Danish FM hopes for lift of bans on money transfers to Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Denmarks Foreign Minister Kristian Jensen expressed the hope that the restrictions surrounding money transfers to Iran will be lifted swiftly.

In a meeting with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates Affairs Hassan Qashqavi in Copenhagen on Tuesday, Jensen underlined the need for promotion of bilateral ties between the two countries in diverse fields, particularly economy and trade.

Referring to a recent banking cooperation agreement between Tehran and Copenhagen following the removal of anti-Iran sanctions, he expressed the hope that the deal will pave the way for the prompt removal of restrictions on Irans banking transactions and facilitation of trade exchanges with it.

The Investment Department of Iranian Ministry of Economy and Finance and Denmarks Export-Import Bank signed the cooperation document back in January.

The Danish foreign minister further described Irans role in the region as constructive and positive.

Qashqavi, for his part, voiced Irans readiness to enhance all-out bilateral ties with the Scandinavian country.

During the meeting, Jensen and Qashqavi also exchanged views on ways to increase consular and parliamentary cooperation between the two nations.

There has been growing enthusiasm for trade ties with Iran after implementation of a final nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), which took effect on January 16.

The deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), has terminated all nuclear-related sanctions on Iran, reopened the doors of foreign investment to the countrys market, and prepared the ground for a much-anticipated economic boom.
