Iran, Russia parliament heads stress expansion of strategic ties
TEHRAN, Apr. 20 (MNA) Irans Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Russian State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin underlined the need for the continuation of Tehran-Moscow strategic cooperation.In a meeting with Naryshkin on the sidelines of Eurasian parliaments heads meeting in Russia, Larijani hailed successful holding of the event, saying Iran and Russia enjoy good relations in the current situation experiencing many aspects of development.

Russia is our secure neighbor enjoying stability and power; Iran is willing to develop long-term and stable relations with Russia, Larijani said.

Pointing to his meeting with the Russian President Vladimir Putin during Valdai Summit, Larijani saidIran is looking for stable relations with Russia, since both sides are willing to expand all-out cooperation.

Thinking positive about the role of Russia in the region, Larijani said the region is overwhelmed with terrorist acts, however, Russia's role in establishing peace and security in the region is constructive and Iran cooperates with Russia on regional issues.

Parliament speaker called Putins trip to Iran on lastNovembera very important event which turned on the engine of many previously signed agreements between the two countries.

Sergei Naryshkin, for his part, said Russia and Iran are close partners holding close positions on regional issues.

He pointed to the development of military and technical cooperation in technical and defense areas, adding Iran's role in the fight against terrorism is valuable and Parliamentary Relations between the two countries needs to be expanded.
