Iran welcomes human rights dialogue with EU

Tehran, April 17, IRNA Former Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said on Sunday that Iran welcomes dialogue with the EU on human rights issues, believing that such a dialogue will be helpful provided that it is not politically motivated.

Speaking to IRNA, Hosseini said the human rights dialogue will be helpful and constructive if they take place in a logical and realistic atmosphere, being free of allegations and unilateralism and not being politicized.

He noted that European commissioners are visiting Iran to expand economic cooperation between Iran and the EU in the post-JCPOA era.

He said that Iran has much to say about human rights, and unilateralism, politicization or allegations cannot provide a suitable ground for success of the talks.

He added that Tehran believes that the main precondition for expansion of Tehran-Europe relations is that the EU fulfills all its commitments to completely remove sanctions and facilitate banking relations, while trying to have the US act on its commitments.
