TEHRAN (FNA)- The Taliban claimed US Secretary of State John Kerry was the target of four rocket attacks that shook Kabul on the weekend, during Kerry's visit to Afghanistan's capital.

Taliban said in a statement published on the Internet that it fired rockets into Kabul, while the Secretary of State was there, however the rockets missed him, and subsequent reports showed the time gap between the time Kerry left Kabul and the when the attacks occurred was about one hour.

Afghan police said that two or more rockets struck, but no one was hurt. Kerry was there trying to get President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah to make compromises and share power, at a time when the nation's economy is weak and the Taliban is more powerful than they have been since their rule ended in 2001.

The rounds�exploded around 650 feet away from the U.S. Embassy in Kabul and caused significant damage, however no one was hurt.

During his visit, Kerry called on the Taliban to re-engage in peace talks dormant for almost a year, and said there was no change now in President Barack Obama's plans for troop levels in Afghanistan. There are 9,800 U.S. forces on the ground in Afghanistan, and that number is set to fall to 5,500 next year.
