Tehran, April 7, IRNA -- Foreign ministers Mohammad Javad Zarif, Sergey Lavrov and Elmar Mammadyarov in a joint press release on Thursday agreed to make arrangements for holding the first Iran-Russia-Azerbaijan trilateral summit.
The press release stressed the significance of the summit and its role in deepening dialogue and interaction among the countries on regional and international developments.
Adherence to the UN Charter and universal principles of international law, intensification of fighting threats and newly emerging challenges against regional stability and security and expressing preparedness for fighting terrorism, extremism, organized crimes and drug smuggling were among the items of the press release issued during the trilateral meeting.
Three foreign ministers also agreed on development of trilateral cooperation on economy, energy, transportation and infrastructures, culture, tourism, trade and customs and consular issues.
The release also stressed the need for constant efforts to maintain Caspian Sea as the sea of peace, friendship, security and cooperation as well as finalizing Caspian Sea Legal Regime.
Trilateral Meeting of Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan Foreign Ministers was held today in Baku.
