Suicide blast kills 70, injures over 300 in Lahore, Pakistan

Islamabad, March 28, IRNA -- At least 70 people, mostly children and women, were killed in a suicide attack on Sunday evening in the city of Lahore, center of Punjab province in Pakistan.


Hospital sources say over 300 more have been injured. The number of casualties is expected to rise as many of those injured are in critical condition.

The suicide attack took place at a children's park, where a large number of families, especially women and children, were present.

The attack was claimed by the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan Jamaatul Ahrar.
Punjab Province Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced three days of mourning in the province.

The area is a residential area of Lahore. The blast was just outside the exit gate and a few metres away from the children's swings.
