Iran to unveil Jamaran 2 warship: Defense minister
Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi has announced the upcoming unveiling of the indigenously-built warship, Jamaran 2.
Vahidi said on Monday that Jamaran 2, a Wave-class warship, and new models of flying boats would be unveiled in the coming months.

The Iranian defense minister made the remarks on the sidelines of the second conference on developing Irans southeastern Makran coast and marine prowess on Monday.

The three-day conference opened on Saturday with the presence of Irans President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Chabahar.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

Iran's Navy launched the indigenous Sahand destroyer in the southern port of Bandar Abbas on September 8, 2012 alongside the overhauled super-heavy Tareq 901 submarine.

The Iranian Navy launched its first indigenously-built destroyer, Jamaran, in the waters of the Persian Gulf in February 2010. The 1,420-ton vessel is equipped with modern radar systems and other electronic warfare capabilities.

The Iranian defense minister added, Paying attention to the importance of Makran coast and its strategic role in the field of transit is of high importance and the government has several plans on its agenda, including the creation of the third petrochemical pole in [the southeastern port city of] Chabahar and the development of a free trade zone.
