High Representative of the European Union Federica Mogherini will pay official visit to Iran on April 16, according to an official statement.

BRUSSELS(Sputnik) � High Representative of the European Union Federica Mogherini said on Monday that she was planning to visit Iran on April 16.

"We also have a point on Iran [on the meeting agenda] ahead of my next visit that will take place on the 16th of April. Together with many other commissioners we will discuss on which grounds and in which issues and sectors to reengage, to reopen full relations and explore ways to cooperate with Iran bilaterally," Mogherini told reporters ahead of the EU Foreign Affairs council.

In January, EU, UN and US sanctions were lifted from Iran following Tehran's implementation of its obligations under the nuclear deal signed with six world powers to ensure the peaceful nature of its nuclear program. The move has restored the Islamic republic�s access to the global market.
