Dy FM decries presence of Syrian terrorist figures in Geneva talks

Tehran, Feb 10, IRNA Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Wednesday decried presence of Syrian terrorist figures in Geneva peace talks, saying that Syrian crisis must be resolved by diplomatic means.

He made the remarks in a telephone conversation with UN Secretary General special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.

Amir-Abdollahian discussed the latest developments in Syria with Staffan de Mistura on the eve of new round of international meeting to support Syria.

Amir-Abdollahian said that the reason for emerging difficulties in recent Geneva peace talks on Syria were from the list of participants, in which the terrorists were not separated from opposition and presence of well-known terrorist elements in Geneva peace talks is unconstructive.

De Mistura termed Iran's role helping find political settlement for Syrian crisis 'constructive', saying that in the peace talks in Geneva, participants presented existing obstacles on the way of intra-Syrian peace talks to find out an appropriate mechanism.

In the fourth international meeting to support Syria will be held in Munich, Germany, tomorrow February 11.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will lead Iranian delegation to Munich tomorrow.
