TEHRAN (Tasnim) Tehran and Moscow have common views on the need for the protection of territorial integrity of Syria and Iraq, Ali Akbar Velayati, an international adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said.
Irans serious efforts to preserve territorial integrity of the regional countries, including Syria and Iraq, and the views it (Iran) has expressed over the past years, have become obvious to all countries, and Russia and Iran have common views and cooperation in this regard, Velayati said in Moscow on Wednesday, in a meeting at Irans embassy attended by the heads of a number of top Russian research institutes and think tanks.
He further pointed to the US plots for disintegration of Syria and Iraq, saying Washington has fortunately failed to achieve such a vicious objective.
Velayati further called on the Russian research institutes to propose ideas about the strategic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow in the political, defense, trade and cultural fields, the exchange of technology and investment.
Velayati travelled to Moscow for talks with top Russian officials on the latest developments in the region and coordination of policies on Syria.
The Iranian envoy held meetings with several top Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, and attended a number of gatherings.
