Tehran, Jan 27, IRNA � Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on his twitter page commented on the meeting between President Hassan Rouhani and Pope Francis.

It was the first meeting of an Iranian president with leader of the Catholic Christians after 16 years.

'Mutual commitment to join efforts for a World Against Violence and Extremism,' Zarif wrote.

President Hassan Rouhani arrived in the Vatican City to meet Pope Francis on Tuesday.

The Iranian President, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Rome, Italy, on Monday to hold talks with top Italian officials on various international and bilateral issues.
