Tehran, Dec 23, IRNA First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri called on Tehran and Moscow to boost their economic cooperation in proportion with their diplomatic relations.
'The Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia should increase the level of their economic relations according to political ties,' Jahangiri said in a meeting with Russia's First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov in Tehran on Wednesday.
He noted that expansion of relation with Russia is of prime importance for the Islamic Republic of Iran, and said, 'Tehran in interested in upgrading its relations with Moscow in all fields.'
Jahangiri pointed to the recent visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Tehran, and the agreements reached during his visit, and said, 'I hope your visit could also expedite the trend of mutual cooperation.'
The Russian first deputy prime minister presented a report on the negotiations of the Russian delegation with Iranian officials on the implementation of joint projects.
'The Russian agriculture minister will visit Iran soon to enable the two countries to review their mutual cooperation in the field of agriculture and food safety,' Shuvalov said.
