Jalali: Saudi intervention in Yemen complicated regional situation

Tehran, Dec 19, IRNA - Head of Majlis Research Center Kazem Jalali said on Saturday that intervention of Saudi Arabia in Yemen worsened the humanitarian situation in the region.


Jalali made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Speaker of French Senate, Gerard Larcher.
France plays a very effective role to thwart the humanitarian catastrophe in Yemen, he said.
Condemning recent terrorists attacks in Paris, Jalali expressed sympathy with the bereaved families.
It was a very bitter and humanitarian disaster, Jalali said.
Recent terrorists attacks on Paris would draw attention of the West to the danger of terrorists groups while the Iraqi and Syrian governments are fighting terrorists for consecutive years, Jalali said.
The Islamic Republic of Iran for many times warned against threat of terrorists to regional and global security and stability, he said.
'We should not wait to see similar disasters and should deal with terrorists seriously,' he said.
Jalali called for collective action of governments of the international community to eradicate terrorists in the region and the world.
Iran welcomes the new stand adopted by France in fight against terrorism, he said.
Regretfully, Daesh Takfiri group wining financial support of alien has committed heinous crimes, he said.
It is not possible to eradicate terrorism only through air strikes, he underlined.
After defeat of terrorists in Syria with the help of incumbent government, democratic election must be held, Jalali said.
Saudi government exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and the region and France can play effective role in resolving the issue, he said.
He also called for expansion of parliamentary cooperation between Iran and France.
After implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) a new chapter for expansion of cooperation between Iran and other European countries has been initiated, he said.
Speaker of French Senate, for his part expressed satisfaction over his visit to Iran and called for expansion and bolstering of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
He expressed the hope that such visits and exchange of visits between the officials would lead to expansion of all out cooperation between the two countries.
Fight with terrorism is among issues of mutual interests and Paris is to continue exchange of views with the Iranian officials to this end, he said.
What should be taken into account in Syria is the harmony between all countries in fight with terrorism as well as active participation of all groups in the country's nationwide elections, he said.
French Senate speaker is scheduled to confer with President Hassan Rouhani on issues of mutual interests and regional and global developments on Sunday.
