TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi called on Manama officials to stop raising baseless allegations against Tehran and present strong evidence to corroborate their claims about Iran's interference in Bahrain's internal affairs.

"Bahraini officials had better find a way out of their grave internal problems," Sarmadi said in reaction to the summoning of the Iranian charge d'affaires to Manama by Bahraini foreign ministry.

Iran�s acting charge d�affaires Hameed Shafee Zad was handed an official letter on Saturday in protest to the �blatant interference� in Bahrain�s internal affairs after Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei blasted Bahraini regime for suppressing the Shiite majority living in Bahrain.

Sarmadi advised Bahraini officials to deal with their internal affairs and stop the game of blaming others.

He advised the Bahraini foreign minister to think about playing a positive and constructive role in establishing collective security in the region and national reconciliation between the Bahraini government and people instead of inciting religious sedition in Bahrain and the region.

Anti-government protesters have been holding peaceful demonstrations across Bahrain since mid-February 2011, calling for an end to the al-Khalifa dynasty.

Violence against the defenseless people escalated after a Saudi-led conglomerate of police, security and military forces from the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) member states - Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar - were dispatched to the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom on March 2011, to help Manama crack down on peaceful protestors.

So far, hundreds of protesters have been killed, hundreds more have gone missing and thousands of others have been injured and arrested.
