Tehran, November 26, The Iran ProjectIran and Iraq agreed to establish joint Science and technology parks in the provinces along the Iran-Iraq border and to exchange the technology and knowledge based productions.
The agreement was reached in a meeting between Khosro Piri, director general of Science, Research and Technology Ministry's Office for Technology and Ghassan Hamid Abdolmajid the director of Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education's Office for Research and Technology.
During the meeting, Piri noted another accord between Marine Science & Technology University of Khorramshahr and the University of Basrah, saying that two sides expand technological ties through establishing joint science and technology parks in Iran's western provinces and Iraqi eastern cities.
Recalling the similar historical, scientific, religious and cultural backgrounds of two neighboring countries, the Iraqi official highlighted the need to mutual cooperation in the area of science and technology, mentioning the earlier student exchange program between two countries.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he called for the further partnership in the areas of oil, energy and agriculture.
In concluding part of this meeting, two sides also agreed to expand the knowledge based productions export and exchange of experiences related to innovation and technology.
