Iran to supply Syria with scientific and educational support: Science Minister

Tehran, November 7, The Iran Project- Minister of Science says Iran is ready to provide further scientific and educational support for Syria.

Mohammad Farhadi, Iran's minister of Science, Research and Technology made the remarks in the meeting on Friday with Syrian Minister of Education on the sidelines of the 38th UNESCO General Conference underway in Paris, France.

Noted the long standing cultural ties between two nations, Farhadi said that sanctions offered Iran an opportunity to demonstrate its true capabilities.

Underlining expansion of the educational and technological ties between two countries, he stated that Iran is ready to provide further scientific and educational assistance to Syria particularly by granting university admission and scholarship programs.

Appreciating Syria's invitation to take part in the Award Ceremony of the Avicenna Prize for Ethic in Science 2015, the Syrian minister of education warmly welcomed Iran's initiative to establish renewable energy award and to grant exchange and scholarship programs.

In a separate meeting with Kuwaiti minister of higher education, Farhadi underlined the expansion of ties with Kuwait, voicing Iran's readiness to cooperate with Kuwait on joint scientific and educational programs. Elsewhere in his meeting, Farhadi welcomed Kuwaiti counterparts' demand to set up a joint university, adding that the proposal needs further considerations.
