TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian and Russian officials signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand mutual cooperation in judicial fields.

The MoU was signed between Iranian Justice Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi and his Russian counterpart Vladimirovich Konovalov in a meeting on the sidelines of the International Anti-Corruption Conventions Conference in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.

Pourmohammadi said that the judicial cooperation between Iran and Russia is of great importance, which he said will also benefit the entire region.

The Iranian justice minister said that Iran has intensified its campaign against corruption, including reforming the related laws in a way to match the needs of the day.

The Russian justice minister, for his part, said that Iran's participation in the conference at the highest level with very practical proposals is a sign of the importance attached by Tehran to cooperation in this field.

Pourmohammadi arrived in Saint Petersburg on Monday to attend the Sixth Conference of the Member States of the Convention against Corruption.

Pourmohammadi, heading a high-ranking delegation, delivered a speech at the conference and explained Iran's achievements in the field of strengthening standards of the anti-corruption campaign including transparency, liability and appropriate management of resources.

The conference started work on Monday and many prime ministers, justice ministers, judiciary official and international analyzers and experts from 170 member states of the convention are attending the event.
